Carilion Clinic asks EMS providers to be aware of new screening/triage procedures in its EDs:

Previous triage criteria: COVID-19 Signs & Symptoms AND Travel History

New Current Triage criteria: COVID-19 Signs & Symptoms OR Travel History 

Personnel in ED triage areas will use gowns, gloves, mask, and eye protection.   

Release of the 2019 WVEMS Operational Protocols is complete. For reference, we will continue to provide an informational video, a 25 question assessment and a schematic of the new drugs and their placement in the WVEMS drug boxes. 

All WVEMS drug boxes should now be updated with new contents. Should you encounter a box that has not been updated, please contact a WVEMS field coordinator immediately.

Please keep in mind that you are NOT allowed to practice under the new protocol guidelines until your Operational Medical Director has cleared you to do so.

Some hospital pharmacies within the WVEMS region are currently experiencing a shortage of Lidocaine pre-filled syringes. As a substitute, pharmacies will provide a 100mg/5ml vial of Lidocaine during the shortage. Boxes will be appropriately marked.
